Lawrence Hardware

A technical drawing tells an architect what the product is. We build what the finished room becomes. Fourteen years managing virtually every aspect of a 140-year-old brand.

Fourteen Years Managing a 140-Year-Old Brand

Lawrence Hardware is a Canadian architectural door hardware manufacturer with a history spanning more than 140 years, positioned around integrity, quality, innovation and continued leadership in the markets it serves. For roughly fourteen years we have managed virtually every aspect of that brand.

A technical drawing communicates what a product is. That is a different job from communicating what the finished project could become, and the second one is what decides the sale here.

Lawrence operates in a technical, product-driven B2B environment. Every product carries specifications, documentation, finishes, applications, pricing and installation requirements, across several market segments at once, while the company supports dealers, architects, builders, distributors, technology partners and its own sales organization. All of that has to stay accurate, consistent, current and commercially useful, and it has to move quickly when the market does.

The Catalogue and the Product Data.

We manage the catalogue system end to end: product photography, design and layout, product organization, technical specifications, product data, ongoing updates, price lists, digital catalogue development and website integration. The print catalogue is translated into a digital environment carrying the same information, so a customer evaluating a product online sees exactly what a distributor is holding.

The part of this that is easy to underestimate is the data itself. Nearly every product needs specification sheets, technical material, pricing and supporting sales documentation, all of it maintained rather than produced once. When an external change lands, a tariff or a pricing revision, large volumes of product information have to be updated quickly and correctly, at a moment when being slow and being wrong are equally expensive.

That work is not graphic production. It depends on an established understanding of product structure, technical information, pricing systems and document management, which is knowledge that takes years to build and cannot be briefed into a supplier in a week.

Targeted Communications.

Rather than general marketing material, we build communications aimed at a specific audience and a specific objective: product families, new introductions, market segments, industry verticals, architectural applications, commercial and residential opportunities, and dealer and partner initiatives.

Lawrence's condominium door suite materials are the clearest example, built around particular locksets and interior door hardware for one application rather than describing the range and hoping the reader locates themselves in it.

3D Visualization for Sales Presentations.

This is the capability that most changes what a salesperson can walk into a meeting carrying.

A salesperson often needs to present one specific combination: a lock, a lever, door hardware, a door style, a finish, inside a particular architectural environment. Producing that the traditional way means physical prototypes, location photography, staging and a full production process, which prices the exercise out of every opportunity except the largest.

We build the environment digitally instead, then produce photographic renderings of the exact combination being proposed. Lawrence can put together a customized presentation quickly and economically, and is no longer limited to showing whatever happens to have been photographed already.

The distinction matters more than it sounds. Showing the hardware answers a technical question. Showing the hardware in the room answers the question the client is actually asking, which is whether this is the right decision. That is what gives architects, builders, dealers and customers confidence in a proposal, and what separates Lawrence during a competitive opportunity.

The Architects of Style and Bold Italian Levers brochures, an Art of Perfection spread, and three door photographs showing levers in a bathroom, a bedroom and a hallway.

Video and Digital Content.

We produce product, educational, informational, marketing, sales-support and social content, which is how complex technical information becomes something a person can watch, understand, present and forward.

Specialized Print and Partner Support.

Lawrence develops material for its dealer network, its B2B relationships and its technology partners, often with unusual production or printing requirements. We manage those from concept through production. Because the brand and product system are already understood, none of it starts with a learning curve.

One Point of Responsibility.

Handled conventionally, ten separate suppliers would touch this work, each competent inside their own piece and none of them responsible for how the pieces meet.

The obvious cost of that is coordination. The less obvious one arrives when something goes wrong, because with five or seven suppliers in the same set of work it stops being clear whose problem it is. The designer points at the data. The printer points at the file. The developer points at the feed. Nothing is resolved quickly because nothing is anyone's outright responsibility.

Lawrence has one. We own the outcome, which is the difference between a problem being diagnosed and a problem being fixed.

Why Every Project Makes the Next One Faster.

The efficiency here is not a rate. It is accumulation, which is why the Brand-to-Revenue Performance System is designed to be entered once and extended rather than repurchased.

A 3D model built for one presentation serves the next twenty. A catalogue structure built once absorbs a hundred new products without being redesigned. Product data maintained continuously is ready the day a tariff changes rather than a month after. Every piece of work makes the next piece cheaper and faster, which is exactly what does not happen when each project is awarded separately to whoever quoted lowest.

The case study is not a catalogue, a brochure, a video or a rendering. It is that a 140-year-old manufacturer has one marketing infrastructure instead of ten suppliers, and can turn technical product information into a persuasive proposal on the timeline an opportunity actually allows.
